At VTM, we have long been committed to contributing to a more sustainable and efficient transport system. With over four decades of experience in multimodal transport consultancy and a broad portfolio of projects spanning road, rail, air, and maritime transport, we combine technical expertise with a forward-looking vision – one that fully aligns with the goals of a decarbonized and greener future.
It is in this spirit that we are proud to have supported ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal | VINCI Airports, a company that has embraced a proactive strategy for environmental sustainability, especially since joining the VINCI Group in 2013. Aligned with the European Green Deal, ANA | VINCI Airports has committed to carbon neutrality by 2030, well ahead of the broader 2050 European target.
This commitment is not limited to operations alone. During the last decade, ANA | VINCI Airports also initiated a new cycle focused on improving mobility within the Lisbon Airport perimeter, placing a strong emphasis on sustainable transport alternatives.
This vision closely aligns with the objectives of the LIFE MOONSET Project (Implementing a Nocturnal, Eco-Friendly and Integrated Shared Transportation Concept), part of the LIFE Program – the European Union’s key funding instrument for environmental and climate action initiatives. The project brings together partners from Austria, Bulgaria, and Portugal, and is focused on creating and testing a shared, on-demand night-time transport solution, especially for airport workers. Its overarching goal is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by offering viable alternatives to individual car use for night-shift workers.
As part of its contribution to the LIFE MOONSET Project, ANA | VINCI Airports conducted a survey campaign targeting the workforce at Humberto Delgado Airport, with a particular emphasis on night workers and their mobility patterns and needs. With our deep knowledge of the Portuguese airport system and proven expertise in airport fieldwork management, VTM was honored to contribute to this effort. Our work focused on supporting ANA | VINCI Airports developing this survey campaign in the field, with a technical approach based on:
It is worth highlighting that VTM is also capable of bringing a holistic understanding of the broader transport landscape. Our work across road transport, mobility planning, network modeling, and energy transition strategies allows us to facilitate knowledge transfer and strategic alignment with current sustainability goals at the heart of many companies’ sustainable transformation.
We are proud to have been a part of a project that not only advances sustainable mobility within the Lisbon Airport perimeter but also contributes to a wider European effort toward inclusive and carbon-neutral transport systems.
