VTM was pleased to take part in the 2nd session of the “Mobilidade Mais Talks” lecture series, promoted by Eurotransporte in partnership with Transtejo/Soflusa, with the institutional support of TML – Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa and AML – Área Metropolitana de Lisboa.
The session held last Tuesday included a roundtable on “Decarbonisation in Transport”, moderated by our colleague Gabriel Stumpf.
The discussion brought together contributions from Carris, Transtejo, Grupo ETE, the Municipality of Moita and PRIO, and highlighted a central idea: decarbonising transport is not only about electrifying fleets. It also means rethinking operations, infrastructure, fuels, intermodality, spatial planning and mobility choices.
The debate addressed the challenges of electrification in urban and river transport, the complexity of the transition in maritime transport, the role of municipalities in sustainable mobility, and the importance of renewable fuels in segments that are harder to electrify.
The key takeaway is that this transition requires collaboration between operators, companies, municipalities and public decision-makers, combining technological solutions with a systemic vision.
