Tiago Costa has 10 years’ experience in the transport sector, in both consultancy and transport organisations, namely a railway logistics operator and a motorway concessionaire. He holds an Integrated Master’s in Civil Engineering – Planning from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, with additional training in transport modelling, data science, and SQL database programming.
Tiago’s expertise spans road, rail, and logistics, with a strong focus on transport data analysis, modelling, and ETL processes. He has worked in both the UK and Portugal, contributing to transport infrastructure projects, demand forecasting, and economic appraisal.
Before joining VTM, Tiago worked as a Transport Data Specialist in the rail and motorway sectors, where he played a key role in improving traffic data forecasting and analysis, optimising data collection processes, and advising data-driven strategies to support more accurate decision-making and business performance.
Earlier in his career, Tiago spent over five years in transport consultancy in the UK, focusing on transport modelling, economic feasibility studies, and infrastructure planning for clients such as the UK Department for Transport, Transport for London, and local authorities. His work involved strategic transport modelling, cost-benefit analysis, and network performance evaluation across road and rail projects.
